A Football Match A Party And A Cake!

Hey everyone,

When kids are younger parents go to great length to make birthdays special for them. There are various themes and cakes to choose from. Since the kids are little the parents decide everything. We have had our fair share of Pikachu birthday cakes and WWE ring cakes and all of them were indeed very special.

It’s by the time that your kids get into their teens that they slowly start orchestrating everything about the birthdays. From its theme to who’s getting invited and who is not. Luckily for me I am still on their guest list. Ha Ha! Or was it because I was the one baking the birthday cake!

Well that’s the single most profound briefing I got ……MAMA your making the cake. Plain, vanilla cake with icing is how he likes it.  The theme cannot be very difficult to guess with crazy football fans what else could it be? So football match first followed by the birthday party.

I generally stick to the briefing but wanted it to be extra special, so came up with my own version of the football cake. A vanilla sponge cake with butter icing. Made a stencil of the football and dusted the cocoa powder on fussed over it with Choco chips and voila!! The look on the birthday boy’s face was pure bliss to behold.  Don’t know what is so magical about football? Boys just seem so happy to play it and even bigger smiles for a football cake.

Only teenagers have the energy to play for 90 minutes and then party which they did. I watched the match from the stands with my heart racing up and down every time some kid missed to fall or stumble during the match, heart racing without pacing is not exactly the kind of cardio that I have in mind to blast stubborn fat. I will stick to walking, but I guess any kind of cardio is welcome!   The football game was fun; the boys chased me away when I tried to get closer for some snaps, so I stuck to the stand for the rest of the game!

You can plan and plan the birthday party but ultimately its family and friends that make your day special and memorable. For those who cannot make it and are far away the celebrations are only virtual and that is a reality! But zipping clips of the celebrations back and forth loops them in too, making them feel a part of it.

Wishing all you April/May babies a very happy birthday and wonderful memories of it. Which is your most cherished birthday memory? Hope you have many more to cherish.

Wishing you happiness and glee always.

Mix And Match Outfits – For A Winning Combination.

Most of us tend to reach out to the same style of clothing every day and spending time gazing at the wardrobe thinking I do not have anything to wear? When in reality as soon as you open that cupboard/wardrobe there are some five things that fall on your head from your over stuffed wardrobe. What? Not five!  More! If so, it’s about time you mix and match your way to a winning combination.

Forgive me for this preachy beginning. I am guilty of this most of the time, and when we face this dilemma, just switch things up a bit to use what we have more creatively.

Going the Indo - western route is the quickest way to mix and match to get a winning combination. Try a chambray shirt, ideal for summer with a bandhini (traditional tie and dye print) maxi skirt, just knot the shirt at the base, it looks cool and is an unexpected winning combination. A white shirt with this skirt would give the same results. The blue and orange offset each other so well.
FOREVER 21 SHIRT  WITH A MAXI SKIRT

Teaming up the all season, favourite Jeans with this colourful, bright footwear does the trick, instead of pairing them with the same old flip flops or sandals. The pom poms and embroidery on these can elevate any outfit.

JEANS AND COLOURFUL FOOTWEAR

Someone left a comment saying that Orange is their favourite colour for summer the colour of Marigolds and Sunset.  It was such a lovely thing to say!! Teaming up your outfits with colours that are out of your comfort zone can surprise you.  So mix and match could do the trick.

Colour inspires me to select an outfit and to paint too. The “flame of the forest” the tree and the colour orange was the inspiration for this painting. I even named it that. If you look closely you can see the Denim shade in the blue background and orange with all its vibrancy and glory packs in the punch.
FLAME OF THE FOREST

Hope you like the painting!! So try mixing up colour combination to get a new winning combo. What little trick do you have to refresh your outfits in your wardrobe? No, heading to that Forever21 or H&M sale is not the answer I am looking for. Let me know if you have one.

So hopefully we have lots of outfit options to wear and if we are still getting clothes landing on our heads……then we don’t need creativity we need to organise ASAP!!

Here’s wishing you happiness and glee always.

5 Fashion Trends You Must Try This Spring / Summer 2018

Hey everyone,

So, with summer breathing down on us are you feeling the heat? Even if you do, you can always look cool in some of these amazing 5 trends that are doing the rounds this spring /summer 2018.

1 GINGHAM / CHECKS

Definitely check in to this checks or Gingham trend this spring/summer 2018. Like stripes the gingham print adds the much needed cool factor instantly. Be it a top or a trouser it’s an instant pick me up for the season.

2 RUFFLES

Ruffles have been around for a while now but they don’t seem to go away, they have an uncanny way of curling themselves around garments making them look so trendy and in turn, around our hearts too. Whether its, the tiny ruffle around the collar that makes you look so regal, or if it’s those voluminous ones on sleeves, they are here to stay and a must try what say?

3 POLKA DOTS

Now I share a strange love for polka dots for me this is a perpetual trend period. I just love them! So for me it’s not that Polka dots will be trending…..for me they are always trending and always will. Don’t be afraid of this fun, retro print there is the perfect one for every one and the classic polka dot is ever so eye catching.  You are going to see a lot more of these cute dots.

4 PASTELS

This one is easy it’s just that the weather make you gravitate towards those cooling, pastel, sorbet colours. The must have pastel being lavender, mauve or any light shade and hue of the colour of the year 2018 - ULTRA VIOLET. Since I love colour so much, I tend to reach for that bold crimson, red and orange shades every time.  I have to take my own advice and reach for those pastel soothing shades this summer. Just think of the shades on the header of the article.

5 FLORALS

Come on its spring!  The season of flowers how can you give this a miss? I paint only flowers so you can imagine how much I love them on my clothes too, I know there are many who shy away from this one just because they are so in love with the neutrals it’s as if it’s a crime to give up their black, white and grey. Floral makes everything look   just what can I say? Just so much extra prettier!  At least I think so. Try the trend on hand bag, shoes, scarves anything but don’t give it a miss, please. For me, flowers are forever more so that Diamonds.

Hope you give these amazing fashion trends a go, if you have not done so already. So here’s wishing you all a spring season full of bloom and a sizzling summer only fashion wise.  Stay cool and as always wishing you happiness and glee always.
