Fashion trend - pom poms.

It’s amazing to see how some trends spread like wildfire. Especially something as humble a pom pom.  

We used them in craft and to decorate in school, but who would have thought it will make its way to fashion ramp walks and more.

These colourful, soft balls of wool are seen in earrings at Zara to street style junk jewellery.  Pom poms are everywhere, on pretty sweater, pullovers, stoles you name it and it is there.

Even fluffy blankets have pom poms attached to the corners, why should home decor be left behind; cushions are going gaga over pom poms too.

Not to forget footwear, a neutral dress and colourful pom pom slippers add the much required pop of colour and fun to any garment.

They also come in different sizes so if you feel they are too much and in your face go for the more dainty ones.  Options in earrings, bracelets are endless actually.

Adding a string of dainty pompoms at the end of a bell sleeved top gives an ordinary top a more edgy look.

Whether you use them as a fashion trend or in your DIY endeavours the pompom way is a great, fun way to go.

If you haven’t caught on with the trend already you must give it a try.

Take a cue from the pom pom people! You can be tiny and still cause a stir. May be the next time instead of saying every dog has his day.....we can just say YOU ARE GOING THE POM POM WAY!

Football at home

Hey Everyone,

With the Under 17 Fifa world  Cup being held in India kicking off  today. I have to write this one. Football at home you might think what that is all about?

Well when you have two sons who looooveeeee football it’s not anything new. You are constantly getting nutmeged and rainbow moves which send the ball swishing across the room, just barely missing the flower pot, followed by a blood curling scream.  Why scream when it missed the pot? You may ask.  That’s in anticipation of the previous many flowerpots, curios that they have smashed.

Nutmeg by the way is not the one you sprinkle on your French toast. This one is officially a football trick.  Now if you say you knew this, then either you are lying or you are also one who loooveees football.

Discussions about  Ronaldo, Messi and Neymar.  Which player is getting transferred when, why and  to which club, are  topics most frequently featured at breakfast, lunch and dinner. My younger one was in serious pain when Neymar moved to PSG…He moved about at home as if, it was game over for him. A Barca fan you see.

The elder one sends me a picture of himself, in which I can see only his eyes and his palm covers the rest of the face. Supposedly that’s the way a Dybala celebration is…..when he scores a Goal. Then there it the Griezmann one and of course hotline bling…YES I am aware of everything!

Influence is a big thing you know…when football fever is all around you can’t escape it. So hubby has caught on, and joined the football bandwagon on weekend since a few years…and he is taking it straight to the next level with self-claims like “I play like Ronaldo”.   Which has both boys laughing out loud but only behind his back, they let their Dad stay in his bubble of happiness, as pre - ordering FIFA18, depends on it. FIFA if you are listening, we have been diligent contributors since years.

Many an El clasico match  have been watched  on TV with big whoops of Joy, shouts of frustration…with a variety of finger foods planned specially for the match. It’s a joy to see pure glee on their faces when their favourite teams do well….there is always a Ronaldo vs. Messi war on at home… I keep shuttling and supporting who ever I feel needs my support that day. But a Ronaldo fan for sure.

I love watching a good game of football and use its influence to be inspired in other ways. So here are some football paintings and a DIY dedicated to the wonderful game, and especially to my kids. hope you enjoy these, as much as I enjoyed making them.

Easy DIY - Tissue box

If you think that the tissue box needs to be just that functional thing you just dump on the table or car, then think again.

With just a simple DIY you can give the boring tissue box a serious make over and make it as pretty as this.

All we need is the ordinary tissue box some cute gift wrapping paper or ever some cloth will do.

 I had two options here but went with this one.  The trick is to find another cardboard box of the same size. This one here was the perfect fit. You will also need

A paper cutter.

Glue.

And some lace for the glam factor.

First slide the tissue box into the cardboard box. Eyeball the centre and mark out the shape in the box and cut it. Take help while cutting if required, as the cutter can be tricky, so be careful not to hurt yourself. 

Next we have to cover up the outer box with a paper of your choice. Keep the flap open so we can refill the box again and again. 

Last but not the least; put on some lace around to make it look pretty, somehow the lace brings it all together.

The outcome is pure glee, only a DIY can give you the satisfaction. Hope you like it!

What’s your trending colour for the summer 2017?

With the onset of summer are you feeling the heat already?  Well to get your mind off the heat, let’s talk about your favourite, trending colour that is blazing your wardrobe.

For me it has to be the colour yellow and to be specific as for the shade of yellow. Its Mustard colour hands down. Just can’t seem to get enough of it.

This colour seems to dominate the runway and street style fashion too! The colour of the sun is ruling Fashion and How! This colour of warmth is feared by many as it’s not an easy colour to pull off, but there will be that perfect shade of yellow for you too! For the ones who think yellow is too much for them, incorporating this shade in the form of accessories is a good idea. Anything from earrings to bangles or shoes will add a pop of colour instantly.

The yellow fever makes it presence felt in home decor too Cushions, bird cages and more. This yellow bird cage is the cutest thing I have seen, available at @home stores and those pretty yellow flowers drew me like a magnet at the Westside stores.

So this summer are you joining the yellow buzz? So, step out into the sun and don’t forget your SPF and shades after all it’s a sweet sunshine colour.

Making the most of my First Post.

Hey everyone,

Welcome!

This is my first post and there may be teething trouble but if there are any will sink my teeth in and solve them!

So what can you expect in this blog?

Floral paintings and me are a-true match!

Nature has given us beauty in abundance and its artist is truly inspiring holding me enthralled. Be it the curve of an unfolding leaf or the gorgeous colours in pretty flowers. So all I end up painting is floral.  Which has my kids (both boys) rolling their eyes. So in order to keep the guys interest at heart there will be a few football related post as well. All you Barca, Real Madrid, Ron and Messi fans …watch this space. Here is one on my paintings!

DIY and me go a long way! And the joy and pleasure it gives to create something unique is quite simply unique, fun and has that glee element that keeps me hooked to it.

FASHION is a fun way to express oneself in clothes, whether it’s the trending colour, cold shoulders, and bell sleeves love it all!

BEAUTY involves brushes and anything to do with colours and brushes has my vote.

FOOD always gets everyone in the mood…and so be it!
